Mailbox opens its reservation system, planning to launch app in the coming weeks

The much anticipated email client built by Orechestra, Mailbox, has received a ton of attention over the past few months, and today the company is opening its reservation system in preparation for launch in the coming weeks.
The app, which Orchestra says will be free, will be filling all requests on a first-come, first-serve basis. Below, company has put together an FAQ, as well as listed the steps needed in order to get your reservation.
Why a reservation system?
Demand has been huge. On day one, our homemade video had over a quarter of a million views, and a ton of people have signed up on our website to be notified when the app is ready.
If all goes according to plan, Mailbox will be available for download in the App Store in a few weeks. Once it’s available, we’ll be filling reservations on a first-come, first-served basis. We are working as hard as we can to get Mailbox into everyone’s hands quickly while delivering a robust, world-class email experience.
How will it work?
Secure your place in line by reserving your Mailbox today. Once you do, you’ll receive an SMS message from us containing your Reservation Number, which is your place in line. You will also receive a Private Code, which you’ll need to claim your reservation when the app is ready.
How much will Mailbox cost?
At launch Mailbox will be free, and our goal is to keep a version of Mailbox free of charge forever. Like Evernote and Dropbox, we hope to add a premium set of paid features over time.
How long will I have to wait?
We can’t say specifically how long it will take for you to get your Mailbox, but once the app is available, you’ll be able to see how many people are still ahead of you in line. We’ll also notify you when your Mailbox is ready.
Steps to get Mailbox
- Get a reservation
- Tell your friends to grab their place in line, too. (note that the app is not in the App Store yet)
