Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet to launch on October 26

Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet will land on October 26, the same day Windows 8 is set to launch, the software company revealed in a report filed with the SEC last week.
“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012,” Microsoft told regulators. “At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”
Microsoft previously said that the first of its branded tablets would debut alongside its next operating system, but until now, the company hadn’t gotten more specific.
Surface RT’s pricier, Intel-based counterpart, the Surface Pro, is expected to launch some 90 days later.
