Three months after Apple proudly revealed that its App Store had exceeded 25 billion downloads, Tim Cook announced at WWDC Monday that an additional 5 billion apps have been downloaded since March, for a total of more than 30 billion downloads.

Cook said that the App Store now houses over 650,000 apps, 225,000 of which are iPad-specific, and caters to over 400 million account holders. What’s more, according to Apple’s chief, the company has paid app developers more than $5 billion since its App Store went online nearly four years ago in July of 2008. And that figure’s sure to swell dramatically in the coming months, with Apple planning to introduce its App Store to a further 32 countries. Once the expansion’s complete, Cook said the App Store’s reach will extend to 155 countries.
