How to Save Money

February 20, 2018

Whether you’d love to increase your savings in order to save for a house deposit or to enjoy a fun-filled vacation if you’re stuck for ways to save money, continue reading to discover a few ingenious ways to increase your savings.

How to Save Money in a Short Time Period:

1. Never pay full price for products or services

Instead of paying full price for products, try to make use of sales and coupons and to purchase products which you know that you’ll need such as toiletries, well before you’ll need them.

Even when it comes to hiring a plumber or electrician, it’s well worth searching for online vouchers, which you may be able to use to get a percentage discount off your plumber or electricians fee.

2. Shop for groceries online in order to avoid temptation

If you’re easily tempted by grocery store displays, you may want to consider shopping for your groceries online as you’ll be far more likely to stick to purchasing items which you actually need. Instead of having your head turned by flashy displays which tempt you to purchase items that you don’t need.

3. Try to book your vacations last minute, in order to take advantage of special deals

Contrary to popular belief you can normally save a bigger percentage off flights and accommodation, if you make your bookings closer to your desired departure date, rather than booking your vacation six months in advance. If you’re curious about taking advantage of last minute deals, it’s well worth visiting a variety of last minute travel sites, to see whether or not there are any tempting deals currently on offer!

4. Cut down on the amount of junk food which you consume

If you purchase junk food a couple of times a week, you may be surprised about the amount of your disposable income which you’ll waste on junk food such as pizza, Chinese takeaways, and burgers. Instead, if you’re trying to save money, you may want to limit eating out or ordering in to once a week. Which is a realistic goal.

5. Don’t be so quick to throw out your belongings

As an example, if you get a small hole in your socks or jeans, it may be worth using a needle and some thread to fix your clothing, instead of simply throwing it out and purchasing new socks or jeans. In today’s fast-paced consumer society, it has become far too easy for individuals to just throw items out, instead of mending them.

6. Don’t be afraid to buy second-hand items

Whether you’re planning an exciting winter getaway and need to purchase a pair of skis or you’re looking for a new desk for your office, it’s well worth visiting a yard sale or thrift store, where you’ll be able to find high-quality items, which won’t break the bank!

So if you’re serious about increasing your primary saving’s accounts bank balance in a relatively short time period, it’s well worth referring back to this handy savings guide from time to time.
