FIFA 20 Game Features: All You Need To Know Before The Release

August 4, 2019

The new football season is just around the corner and if you’re a sports games fan, you sure know what that means. The new FIFA game is about to launch across the globe. The franchise is about an annual EA’s football titles which, with each year, brings something new and refreshing for the fans worldwide. This year is no exception – with many new FIFA 20 game features being announced each week let’s take a look at what we’ve seen and know so far…

AI improvements

Fans of FIFA game series know that, for years, FIFA’s AI wasn’t in the best shape. Among the new FIFA 20 game features, EA Sports included a noticeable change to the computer-controlled players allowing them to feel more like real-life players. One particular area detailed by the developers of the game is AI defending which will receive new defence systems and include the so-called ‘planned tackling’ feature, allowing AI to tackle without your need for a button press. No more passive AI defenders on your team!

We should also mention a new update for AI in one-on-one scenarios. If you’re used to playing on Legendary difficulty right from the get-go, you might’ve noticed that in these scenarios’ computer-controlled goalkeepers usually possess superhuman senses and reactions which often renders your attacking efforts useless. In FIFA 20, you should be able to score goals in one-on-one situations more consistently.

Passing and shooting

The new FIFA 20 game features include a lot of changes to passing and shooting mechanics. In the past, our pass success rate was heavily reliant on a certain player’s passing skill level. In the FIFA 20, pass success will also be heavily influenced by the gameplay. For example, first-time touch and pressured pass situations will now result in slower balls, making them less effective and easier to intercept by the opposing team. Players are likely to pass a ball successfully if their body position, pressure situation and so on is right.

In addition to these passive changes, FIFA 20 will also include 2 new passing options called ‘Dinked’ passes. These are slightly elevated passes used to avoid a defender’s leg. These types of passes will no longer be contextual and will only happen if executed manually through the new mechanic. Another type of pass is called ‘Driven Pass-and-Go’ which will enable more mobility while attacking. EA Sports also plan to include tweaks to Timed Finishing system which was introduced with FIFA 19. FIFA 20 addresses the feedback from the community and the developer plans to tune it even more.

Volta Football

In addition to tweaks on gameplay, one of the biggest selling points of the FIFA 20 is Volta Football. It’s one of the most anticipated FIFA 20 game features that is returning to the series after a long time. Essentially, the new mode will allow you to play various different street football types including 3v3 Rush (no goalies), 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5 and Professional Futsal matches in various awesome looking pitches from around the world. In addition, EA Sports promises a separate campaign mode, online leagues and other FIFA 20 game features designed to accommodate Volta Football mode.

Pro Clubs

Pro Clubs is an online mode for FIFA 20 which will also receive a bunch of awesome improvements compared to FIFA 19. According to EA Sports, Pro Clubs will offer a lot of new customization options for your players and a team. FIFA 20 will introduce a new Avatar system which will replace player creator across the entire game including Pro Clubs. The feature will introduce new ways to design your Virtual Pros visual and gameplay-related characteristics.

In addition to the player and team creation-related FIFA 20 game features, Pro Clubs will also include some long-awaited tweaks to match broadcast. The developers implemented replay transition wipes, an on-screen watermark, club banners, and a new Pro Clubs logo. The club banners were influenced and defined by a team’s primary and secondary colours; they also show the name of the club in the stands.

More to come

However, we might expect that all of the new FIFA 20 game features listed above are still far from the final verse. The game is set to be released on September 27th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The developers of the game have almost two complete months to announce even more cool additions to our beloved game. And we won’t be the least bit surprised if they do…
